“We are excited to add enrollment assistance affiliates to the in-person help available to individuals and families across the state during open enrollment,” said Pam MacEwan, CEO of the Washington Health Benefit Exchange. “The opening of these sites is especially timely given that Dec. 15 is the deadline to sign up for coverage that begins January 1.”
Each affiliate site is located in areas where enrollment in health coverage is lower than expected given the estimated volume of uninsured residents. The broker teams selected to staff each of those affiliate sites were chosen based on their experience building a strong client base of enrollees through Washington Healthplanfinder and their proven capability to meet customer needs.
Among the services offered, brokers at each affiliate site are available to help customers report changes to their Washington Healthplanfinder account, renew their current coverage, and connect with free language access services. Sites will also extend operating hours to accommodate the needs of customers throughout the remainder of the open enrollment period.
“Brokers are an essential resource for customers needing to select and sign up for health coverage that meets their needs and budgets,” added MacEwan. “Their continued commitment to providing professional and accessible assistance to all Washingtonians has greatly impacted the growing number of customers who use Washington Healthplanfinder to gain affordable health coverage.”
The establishment of enrollment assistance affiliates is the latest effort by the Exchange to increase the in-person assistance options available to residents through its customer support network. Earlier in the year, the Exchange announced the opening of full-service health insurance enrollment centers in Spokane and Vancouver. Lead organizations and their networks of trained navigators are located throughout the state and can also assist customers as they maneuver through the enrollment process.
Last year, more than 1.7 million individuals – one out of every four Washingtonians – used Washington Healthplanfinder to secure affordable health coverage, including the 166,000 residents who enrolled in Qualified Health Plans.
Customers residing throughout the state can locate a broker or navigator in their area by clicking the “Customer Support” link on www.wahealthplanfinder.org. Additional support can be accessed every weekday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. by calling Washington Healthplanfinder’sCustomer Support Center at 1-855-923-4633.
Reminders: Enrollment is offered year-round to individuals and families through Washington Apple Health (Medicaid). Customers enrolled in Apple Health will receive a notice 60 days before the month they enrolled in or renewed their coverage last year. Small business owners have the option of enrolling year-round through Washington Healthplanfinder Business.
